Review: I really love this instant pit. Definitely an upgrade from my last. I purchased specifically because of the canning option and did a good amount of research if it was actually able to. I tested it and yes it Definitely is able to can meat but you can only fit pint jars. You cannot fit quart jars in this canner. So yes I do love this and it does exactly the job it’s supposed to but I do wish I could do quart jars instead of having a ton of pint jars in my pantry. If anything the next model they come out with could be a bit bigger so we could can with this. I really enjoy instant pot brand and hope to see more upgraded versions soon!

Review: I bought this Instant Pot in July, mainly for canning because I don’t have a working stove, and by January (6 mnths) it stopped working properly. People, if you own an electric canner you can not just set it and forget it. You need to watch these things. To safely pressure can the temperature needs to stay between 240F & 250F. Twice my pot threw error codes because it didn’t stay up to temp but I was watching it and could see it failing so I didn’t lose food, or worse, eat improperly canned food. The third time it failed it didn’t throw an error code but reached 250 and stayed there, which was unusual. It normally hovers around 246. I didn’t think anything of it until I went to use it again and it constantly read 250 even though it was cold and had cold water in it.

Review: Too many options to go over, I just wish it had a poultry button since those dishes cook so much quicker. I have one of these and the new Duo Crisp as well. Making chicken bone broth is quite different and takes longer than a typical meat or even a soup. This model has so many modes I often never have to adjust the setting much as I do a different type of food. Many custom settings are limited but others are not. There is no simmer mode but several other modes work fine for doing so. This model also has a unique was of dealing with if it gives to a LID warning. It assumes IF you put a lid on you lock it but give to warning to put the lid on like other units I have tried. The works great for some modes where you may want a lid off or not bit not for other modes. This is not a beginners machine. I also have a Duo Crisp for easy recipes and well as for crisping foods which a normal model or this one can not do. Both are easy to turn off Keep Warm mode unlike previous models. The Nova’s can not even do it at all which is why most recipe books do not recommend them. Personally, I only use keep warm when making chicken broth since it needs to cool after and going from 140 takes a lot less time that from dropping from 210. In the Ultra it will take about 5 hours to cool and depressurize. That is another thing, release times a MUCH longer with the Ultra. Be aware of that, often a natural release recipe will require a delayed release or food will overcook.

Review: Absolutely love the manual setting, works as sous vide and practically anything else. Took a bit to learn, but now our pressure cooked vegs have lots of flavour with low pressure setting, short time. I turn off as soon as comes to full sim, about 10ish minutes, then turn off, release pressure, open, stir, let sit for 10ish minutes covered. This saves original flavors, vitamins. Will also stir after 5-7 minutes (while pre-heating) for even cooking.
