Proctor & Schwartz Electric Company made its debut in 1920. It revolutionized the American kitchen with its many inventions: the first silent toaster, first electric glass coffee maker, first the cord-attached iron, first toaster oven/broiler, first pop-up toaster/toaster oven, first the adjustable automatic iron, first snap-apart line of serviceable kitchen appliances, and the first see-thru refrigerator.
Proctor & Schwartz Electric Company, combined with the Silex Company, a manufacturer of irons and coffeemakers, provided consumers with an even broader assortment of small household appliances in 1960. The new firm was named Proctor-Silex Corporation, and we continue to develop, offer exciting new products, and constantly enhance our exceptionally durable, tried-and-true appliances to this day.
Slow cookers, as the name implies, are culinary equipment that cooks food slowly. They are the polar opposite of pressure cookers, which are notorious for quickly cooking food. They are also referred to as crock pots due to the ceramic crock found in their interiors. The product may be used for an hour or as long as 10 hours, depending on the type of food.
They are often used to prepare non-vegetarian foods but may also be used to prepare vegetarian dishes. For example, if a meal normally takes 15-30 minutes to cook, it will take 1-2 hours on high heat and 4-6 hours on medium heat. Similarly, if it takes 1-2 hours, cook it in a crock pot for 3-4 hours on high and 6-8 hours on low heat. Finally, if it takes 2-4 hours, cook it for 4-6 hours on high and 8-12 hours on low.
The sizes range from 1.5 to 8 quarts and anything in between. A 1.5 to 2-quart size is great for warming small items like party dips. However, if you have a bigger family and cook more food, it is best to choose a bigger pot.

The adjustable heat settings mix flavors softly while they cook, and the Keep Warm setting keeps the contents warm until ready to serve. With these different settings, you won’t have to worry if your food will cook thoroughly. And if the food is done before dinner time, you won’t have to worry about if you will have to reheat the food and if it will be cold until it is time to eat it.

But it is also essential. After simple cooking, Proctor-Silex also provides you with a simple cleaning. Review: I had been using a 5 quart Crockpot brand slow cooker for a few years now and it was one of the digital kind. I never liked that one very much as it just was too hot. Even on the low setting, it would get to a boil after only 1-2 hours. It seemed low and high were about the same. And when the glaze cracked on me I needed a new one.
Review: I had a 3.5 quart slow cooker that I liked, but it was always just a little too small for most of my soup recipes, so I was looking for a 4 quart size. This was the only one I found, but it only holds 3.5 quarts. Disappointed.
