Review: The Mueller sonic ice maker is a winner. The nuggets are made and then stored in a couple Jumbo Ziplock bags. An ice mallet breaks up the nuggets quickly. The machine is easy to operate and clean. Recommend distilled water for the longevity of the machines health. Filtered water to clean. No more schlepping bags of ice home from the grocery or convenience store. No more wondering whether if the ice is clean for drinking. Hate when I purchased a spendy bag of ice that had grit or gravel in the bag with the feeling of getting the bottom of the ice barrel. Review: At first I absolutely LOVED this ice maker! I told anyone and everyone about it, even strangers!! But in the last few weeks, in spite of cleaning it with whatever options out there, it tastes and smells funny almost like it’s growing something within the internal components? I’ve used the approved cleaner you run through it, then ran a sort of rinse cycle, then more cleaner through and also wiping the whole thing out with vinegar. I’ve used bleach wipes. I’ve used vinegar only. I’ve taken anything removable to clean manually, all to no avail. There once was some gunk that came out when I ran the cleaning cycle, which then led me to have a thorough freak out and hyper clean everything again. I clean it at least weekly if not more. I use filtered water. I’ve scrubbed and soaked and rinsed. I’m at a loss and now looking at switching to another brand (which as a single parent who has one income and a toddler who is on the spectrum and won’t drink water really but is happy to sit and chomp on ice all day, I feel this potential upcoming expense quite acutely).
