Review: I love this slow cooker. As a family of 5, getting dinner on the table every night can be stressful. I have 3 teenage sons who eat like grown men, which often means making a meal for 8. I decided to take some of the stress off and invest in a slow cooker. After doing some research and learning that there is a difference in a crockpot vs slow cooker, I decided to purchase a crockpot. I also decided to start with a basic model to learn what works for me and what won’t, so that in the future, I’ll know what features to look for in a newer model. This crockpot does get extremely hot on the outside, but I don’t have small children to worry about so that is ok. I simply warn my teens when it’s in use and place it against the wall of the counter and make sure it’s out of the way. I use the timer on my phone to let me know when to check on my meals. Newer models have timers that switch to warm once cooking is complete. However, I use recipes that I find online and with any heating element, cooking time varies, especially when using a different size crockpot than the one a recipe calls for. Until I learn the exact timing it will take my meals to cook, not having an automatic shut off or temperature change is beneficial to me, though will change in the future. I have the 7 quart, so the unit and lid are fairly heavy but durable. Foods do tend to stick to the insert, but I simply fill it with hot water and then wash it. I love that the stoneware is removable, it makes cleaning a bit easier. Other reviews mentioned that the lid does not tightly fit the unit, but as this is my first crockpot, I don’t know if that is a standard feature. I haven’t experienced any cooking issues, my meats and vegetables are always perfectly cooked and very tender. I love this crockpot, it makes cooking and meal planning so much easier, I highly recommend it.

I’ve had the last one for over 10 years, and while it still technically works, it doesn’t get hot as well as it used to and was showing the wear of very regular use. There are newer, fancier models, but I don’t need bells and whistles. This model has served me well my whole adult life. Cooking could not possibly be easier. I can fit tons of chicken or beef in there and count on it to be thoroughly cooked and tender! Always a crowd pleaser. Highly recommend.

Review: This crockpot preforms as expected. The 3 heat settings make it easy to use. The dial is large enough to grasp and turn but the printed settings are a bit more difficult to read. The handles are plastic but are secure and easy to grip. The lid slides a bit on top of the crock lip but covers it adequately. The stoneware basin is large, heavy and easy to clean. I haven’t used it in the microwave or oven yet. The biggest con for me is that the stainless steel gets really hot when the unit is set on high. I am very careful where I place it when in use and what I place near it.
