Review: Anyone who cans and/or freezes food in the fall would benefit from owning this mandolin. I previously owned a $15 mandolin and struggled with it. It was hard to hold still and the blade wasn’t sharp for very long. This mandolin didn’t move around at all while I was slicing carrots, which are tougher to cut than most other fruits and vegetables. There is a nice range of slice thicknesses and the protective gloves that came with it are flexible which really worked well to protect my hands as I was cutting. This is one of those “you get what you pay for” items. For me it was money well spent.

Review: I had another device that had different attachments on board and a safety cover that closed over the blade area when not in use. It had more of a plastic body compared to this model. I love the all metal part but for my being a visually impaired user of this one I must tell you to always use the glove that come with it or the pusher. I had to place the device upside down to remind myself that there is no blade guard so that these cuts on both hands will heal and go away. Placing on a old fashion school serving tray works best for me. The old one worked well lying flat on a large mixing bowl. This one works sitting down in a jumbo bowl slicing downward with that glove on for hard root vegetables. It’s not a bad device just be careful in using it and don’t get distracted while using it. I’ll try to adjust.
